Prokuplje

Prokuplje is a town in Serbia and is the administrative centre of the town of the same name and of the Toplica District. According to the 2011 census, the settlement of Prokuplje had 27,333 residents (there were 27,673 residents according to the 2002 census, while there were 28,303 residents according to the 1991 census), while the entire Municipality of Prokuplje had 44,419 residents according to the 2011 census (there were 51,698 residents according to the 2002 census). Prokuplje received the status of a town in June, 2018. The town developed on the site of the ancient Hameum, and got its name after the Church of St. Procopius, which dates back to the 10th century.
