The Municipality of Sopot, one of the seventeen Belgrade Municipalities, is located south of Belgrade in the northern part of the tame and low woody Šumadija. The surface area of the Municipalitiy is 27,094 ha and boarders the Municipalities of Mladenovac, Lazarevac, Voždovac, Grocka, Aranđelovac, and Barajevo. It has 20,367 residents according to the 2011 census.
