Ecology: A good example of practice in Sokobanja

All over the world there are different technologies for the application of waste water, whether it is purified and returned to certain industrial plants or used in other ways for different needs. One of the examples of good practice in the utilization of waste water is the case in Sokobanja, for the application of which the local self-government received certain recognitions.

Namely, in Sokobanja, waste geothermal water from the spa complex is used for heating the joint facility of the secondary and primary schools.

Waste hot water from the Old Turkish Bath is used to heat the school building, where the coal-fired boiler room has been replaced by a heat pump. It is planned to expand this system to other public facilities, including a kindergarten.

In the world, integration with wastewater treatment plants with district heating systems is widely used, where thermal energy from purified wastewater is used for heating residential and commercial buildings.

These approaches not only help reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, but also contribute to the sustainable management of wastewater and resources in urban and industrial environments.
