With the signing of the annex to the contract, the second phase of the “Clean Serbia” project practically began today. Contracts were signed with another 8 local governments.
As part of the project, sewerage will be built in 73 municipalities, at 89 locations, 157 wastewater treatment plants, a total of about five million meters of sewage pipes will be laid, and about 2.36
million people will be connected to the sewage system, said the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić, who together with the director of the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) Yang Dung and representatives of eight local governments in Serbia: Sombora, Valjevo, Ćićevci, Doljevac, Ade, Svilajnca, Inđija and Subotica signed annexes to the contract, which practically started the second phase of the project “Clean Serbia.
Minister Vesić pointed out that the realization of this project shows that the cooperation between Serbia and China provides a better life for the citizens of Serbia and it is the realization of the vision of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to improve Serbia’s traffic, infrastructure and utilities.
“The total value of these projects is slightly higher than 213 million euros, the length of the sewage pipes is 444 km, and the third phase will be completed next year, and the entire project is worth more than 3.5 billion euros,” said Minister Vesić.
The signing was also attended by the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Chen Bo, who stated that Clean Serbia is a project of great importance for the development of Serbia, related to improving the living standards of citizens and protecting environment and reminded that the first phase of the project is going well.
“With the implementation of this project, CRBC will do a lot for the protection of the environment and the development of Serbia. The project itself is important for the Belt and Road initiative and we are actually building a green Belt and Road,” said the president of CRBC Du Fay, who at the same time thanked for the trust shown to this to the company.
