Serbia and China: Even better results in the future

The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, spoke today with the new Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Li Ming, about the continuation of the already successful cooperation between the two countries, and among the projects in the implementation of which Chinese companies participate, he mentioned the “Clean Serbia” project, in the implementation of which the company CRBC participates.

At the meeting, held in the Government of Serbia, the Minister wished the Chinese to the ambassador a warm welcome and a successful mandate, with the message that relations between Serbia and China have never been better.

Vesić stated that there are many Chinese companies working in Serbia in the field of infrastructure, from roads, railways to the “Clean Serbia” project, which is being worked on with the company “CRBC”, the second phase of which has already begun.

Ambassador Ming pointed out that Serbia and China are bound by traditional friendship. He stated that the cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport is exceptional and that former Chinese ambassador Chen Bo made a great contribution to it, and added that he will try to make this cooperation even better.

“I believe that with your support and help together we can raise the level of cooperation in the field of traffic to a higher level and achieve even better results in the future,” said Ming.

The second phase of the project starts from Novi Sad

The second phase of the “Clean Serbia” project began in Novi Sad. Minister of construction, transport and infrastructure Goran Vesić announced 97.7 km of sewage network for this city.

“I am proud that we are starting the second phase of the Clean Serbia project from Novi Sad. We will do 97.7 kilometers in Novi Sad

sewerage, and the total value of that is 55 million euros and already within the framework in the first two phases, we are working on waste water plants on which about 3,300 people work,” said Minister Vesić.

According to the minister, the second phase of the works includes construction sewage treatment plants in Čenej.

“We will also work on a large wastewater treatment plant that is, the central plant near Rokovo potok in Petrovaradin for which the City of Novi Sad has already provided land, and the value of that project will be around 120 million euros. It is the largest facility that will be built within the “Clean Serbia” project.

According to Minister Vesić, total investment in this area infrastructure of Novi Sad will amount to 175 million euros.

The mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić, confirmed that 80% of the works have been completed planned for the first phase has already been completed. Liman 1, Liman 2, Podbara and Čenej. It is about 66 kilometers of sewage network. This is one a very important project for the City of Novi Sad. The value of this investment, the first and second phases amount to 6.5 billion dinars,” said Đurić.

Đurić adds that the design of the main central purifier Rokovo potok in Petrovaradin, of exceptional importance.

Due to the works, the traffic regime at Liman has been changed

Due to the works on the construction of the sewage network at Liman 2 as part of the “Clean Serbia” project, the traffic regime in this part of the city has been changed.

The Mayor’s Office announced that a temporary appointment is being made traffic ban in the part of Dragiše Brašovana Street in Novi Sad from the intersection at number 16 to the building at number 153 on Despot Stefana Boulevard in the period from October 2 to December 18, 2023.

Mayor Milan Đurić previously announced that the works will be continued at other locations (King Peter I Boulevard, Futoška Street, Maksim Gorki, Cara Lazar Boulevard, People’s Front), as early as 2024 through the “Clean Serbia” project, when it will be the asphalting of the intersections itself was done, so that the same works would not be carried out twice.

Wastewater processing plants in several locations

“After December 31, 2025, the discharge of unprocessed wastewater into rivers will no longer be tolerated, but all will have to be processed,” said Goran Vesić, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, pointing out that the ministry, as part of the “Clean Serbia” project “on the territory of the City of Belgrade engaged in the construction of several WWTPs.

According to the data presented by Minister Goran Vesić, in Belgrade alone, there are about a hundred direct discharges of sewage into the Sava and Danube with a total volume of about 60,000 Olympic-sized pools of waste water per year.

Vesić states that factories for the processing of waste water are being built in several locations.

“In Sopot, we are building 220 kilometers of sewage network and three plants – “Mali Požarevac”, “Rogača” and “Sopot”. We are building a wastewater treatment plant and an additional 27 kilometers of sewage in Ostružnica. We are building 61 kilometers of sewage and a plant in Mladenovac, and two plants on the territory of the municipality of Lazarevac, one each in Lazarevac and Veliki Crljeni,” said Vesić.

At the same time, the minister reminded that the first phase of the waste water processing plant is being worked on in Veliki Selo, together with Chinese and French partners, worth more than 300 million euros.

“When we finish Veliko Selo and Batajnica, we will eliminate more than 90 percent of the direct discharges of sewage into the Sava and Danube in Belgrade,” Vesić pointed out.

The minister called on all other industrialists in Serbia to start designing and building WWTPs in their facilities in accordance with the Government’s decision and the law, and added that based on the contract with the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans (WBIF), he is planning a wastewater treatment plant in Batajnica, which will to include the entire Surčin and all those settlements that gravitate to Batajnica, but today do not have sewerage.
